With the launch of the HHB CDR850 professional audio CD recorder, more users than ever before can record their material on CD-R. While most CD-R discs are designed primarily for use in computer CD writers for bulk data archiving, the CDR74 Silver is optimised specifically for use in professional audio CD recorders. Unlike inferior, Cyanine based discs, the CDR74 Silver uses a specially formulated Phthalocyanine dye recording layer. As well as reacting much more quickly and precisely to the laser, thereby ensuring accurate pit position and length, the CDR Silver’s reflective layer increases reflectivity, resulting in greater compatibility with a wide range of CD recorders and players. The HHB Phthalocyanine dye is also remarkably stable, being much less susceptible to the harmful effects of light, heat and humidity than conventional Cyanine discs. This, combined with a unique protective coating which safeguards the disc against scratches and abrasions caused by repeated use or bad handling, results in a secure archival lifetime of 100 years.
