Digidesign's Mbox 2 is the follow-up to the wildly successful Mbox, with some
heavy-duty improvements! The original Mbox helped thousands of musicians get
into Pro Tools LE thanks to its ease of use, integration with Pro Tools
software, great sonic characteristics, and affordable price. Digidesign listened
to their customers and created the new, improved Mbox 2 based on that feedback.
Mbox 2 sounds better on both input and output, has an integrated MIDI interface,
offers more simultaneous audio I/O, and includes more free value-added software
and tools. Plus, the Mbox 2 has a cool new, more flexible industrial
design.

Superior sound quality from new
preamps and converters
Digidesign rolled up their sleeves and went to
work to make sure the Mbox 2 delivers superior sound quality that easily
surpasses the sound of almost any other bus-powered USB-audio interface. Mbox 2
features newly-designed mic preamps (designed by Digidesign) and new A/D and D/A
converters, offering an impressive dynamic range that translates into much more
headroom and a significantly lower noise floor. The result is that Mbox 2 users
can record ideas more accurately and play them back in greater fidelity than
ever before.
More simultaneous audio inputs
Unlike the original
Mbox, Mbox 2 enables you to use the two analog inputs in conjunction with the
two channels of S/PDIF digital input on the unit to achieve four simultaneous
channels of audio input. That means it's easy to connect a drum machine,
keyboard, sampler, or other gear and record simultaneously.
New MIDI
I/O
Even with modern computers, it pays to install fewer devices and
conserve bus bandwidth. Unlike the original Mbox, Mbox 2 features a MIDI in/out
port, offering improved integration with MIDI controllers, hardware synthesizers
and samplers, and virtual instruments. That means you don't need an additional
MIDI interface!
More software tools
Mbox 2 includes more free
software and tools than the original Mbox, including the new Pro Tools Ignition
Pack. With Mbox 2, you have more powerful software applications, plug-ins, and
other valuable tools to start creating right out of the box.

Of course, the heart of the Mbox 2 system is Digidesign Pro
Tools LE software. This version of the industry standard gives you incredible
recording, mixing, and editing power. Pro Tools LE offers 32 simultaneous audio
tracks (with 128 virtual audio tracks), fully integrated MIDI sequencing with
256 simultaneous MIDI tracks, the ability to stream ReWire applications, and the
unique Beat Detective LE automatic groove analysis and correction tool. Pro
Tools LE also includes 37 DigiRack plug-ins, including EQ, dynamics, delays,
reverb, and much more, plus seven professional Bomb Factory
plug-ins.

Digidesign gave the Mbox 2
a sleek, more practical and flexible design that allows the unit to lie down
flat, sit with a convenient upwards tilt for easy access to the front panel
