This is the Digidesign PCI Host card for connecting the Digidesign Expansion|HD to a PCI-based computer, such as the Dual/Quad Core G5s. (See description of the Digidesign Expansion|HD below.)
Concurrent with the release of the PCIe versions of its Pro Tools|HD systems, Digidesign has also created the Digidesign Expansion|HD chassis-an all-new six-slot PCI expansion chassis that can be used with PCIe and PCI/PCI-X based computers to build expanded Pro Tools|HD systems.

The Digidesign Expansion|HD expansion chassis connects to the host computer via a Host PCI card or Host PCIe card, which are sold separately.

- Upgrade to a new, PCIe-based host computer without having to exchange PCI-based HD Core and Accel cards for PCIe versions.
