| The Lavry Mic Pre is designed for clean and transparent high end performance at
affordable cost. The stereo modules fit in a LavryBlue chassis. A chassis can
accommodate 4 channels of mic pre¡¯s. The typical 2X2 configuration (2CH AD plus
2CH DA) can be expanded to include a Mic Pre.
This LavryBlue 4 stage architecture enables each of the gain stages to
operate at ease, a clear advantage compared to the common single and double
stage approach. The concept of ¡°minimum electronics in the signal path¡± is great
for some applications, but a liability where each gain stage must accommodate a
very large gain range.
Inside, each channel is made out of 244 parts. The unit is designed to yield
a superior dynamic range even for high source resistance microphones. The
transformer free input provides pure and transparent bass, yet it features state
of the art in common mode rejection (for elimination of hum and interference
pickup) exceeding transformer based units.
The phantom power is double shunt regulated for each individual channel. A
discrete output with high current drive capability, can be configured to balance
or unbalanced modes.
Each channel accommodates up to 20-65dB of gain in 1dB steps. The precision
gain setting is ultra reliable (not based on the use of arcane rotary switch
technology).
Outside, the no nonsense controls are as user friendly as can be. Each
channel is equipped with a 2 digit gain setting display and up/down switch. The
last gain settings are stored in a non volatile memory. A Gain Pad switch (per
stereo pair) changes the gain range from 20-65dB to 10-55dB, for higher level
inputs.
Each stereo pair has a microphone selection switch (Condenser, Dynamic or
Ribbon). The 10Hz cutoff utilizes no servo or aluminum coupling caps. The
amplitude response loss at 200KHz is only 0.1dB. Click
