The Austrian Audio Hi-X55 are over-ear, closed-back headphones designed to meet the demands of high-resolution audio production, whether in professional studios or acoustically untreated spaces. The proprietary 44mm drivers utilize copper-clad aluminum voice coils and a special ring magnet structure to deliver a wide frequency response of 5 Hz to 28 kHz. The over-ear design provides isolation from ambient sound, while the memory foam earpads ensure comfortable wearing for long sessions. The Hi-X55 headphones can be folded to allow compact storage and convenient transport. Headphones perform as promised and the hardware and audio quality are both very nice. The frequency response seems flat for majority of the range but their might be some slight scooping in the High-Mid freq range along with a slight boost to the highs. Nonetheless, Ive been able to get very accurate mixes that translate almost perfectly with my studio monitors by using these headphones alone. I dont record so Im not sure how well the headphones hold in regard to leakage, but when I am producing music I hear no unnecessary background noise which allows me to maintain my focus. Ive noticed these arent as loud as my consumer grade headphones but they get loud enough to do the job (this may be due to the fact the lows arent boosted at all, which Im used too with consumer grade headphones). I think this is a perfect pair of headphones for somebody looking to cross reference their mixes and/or produce using headphones with an accurate frequency response.
