RME M-1610 Pro Product Overview

The M-1610 Pro from RME provides purposes for those who seek to navigate the digital and analog audio world with transparency and speed. It's a 16-channel analog-to-digital converter, a 10-channel digital-to-analog converter, and a device that provides a panoply of analog and digital connections.

Analog connections are possible over balanced 1/4" connections or DB25 ports. MADI is made possible over BNC or optional SFP port. You'll note four ports for ADAT, as well as Ethernet ports for AVB streaming. All of this means you can secure up to 272 total inputs and 298 total outputs.

When networking audio over ABV, you can secure up to eight streams with a latency as low as 0.3 ms. Steady FS clocking ensures your audio will be as free from jitter as possible, which means it will sound clear and transparent. Routing is an easy affair thanks to the internal routing matrix, accessible via front-panel controls or over remote control via web interface. This unit also offers dual internal power supplies over two IEC inlets.

Flexibility and Reliability

Analog connections include 16 analog inputs with a switchable sensitivity of up to +24 dBu per channel, as well as eight corresponding analog outputs, and an additional headphone output. Digital connections include MADI, redundant AVB, four ADAT optical outputs, and USB. Given all these connections, the M-1610 Pro brings plenty of flexible connections to any studio setup. With its coaxial and redundant DC coupled outputs, the device offers both versatility and reliability.

Panoply of Connections

The internal routing matrix provides visual control over all channels, side by side. You'll have control over eight AVB streams (with a total of 128 channels), coaxial and (optional) optical MADI ports (with each providing up to 64 channels), analog I/O, and ADAT outputs. This gives you the ability to route 272 inputs and 298 outputs via the front panel encoder/buttons or the web-based remote control.

Low-Latency Operation and High-Quality Conversion

Incredible speeds are possible with this unit: achieve as low as 0.3 ms in network latency, with all samples time-aligned with nanosecond accuracy across an entire network. The A-D and D-A filters have been carefully optimized for different sampling rates, with a focus on accuracy and transparency—nothing added, nothing removed.

SteadyClock FS Technology

In digital audio, the clock frequency is an essential factor, as it creates the correlation between the audio bits and the time reference. Unfortunately, the clock frequency generated by other units is not always reliable, especially across multiple devices. The M-1610 Pro offers full SteadyClock FS performance to ensure immunity clock jitter. This allows you to hear your mix as it is.

Digital format conversion in RME products are done without any loss or degradation, and SteadyClock FS ensures your sonic image will never experience degradation. This helps to optimize recordings and mixes because the soundstage has more depth and clarity.
